Well…that March update will be at least a day behind. I am still sick and didn’t get around to doing it today. Enjoy the rest of this day as it won’t come back for another four years.

Holy crap. March is tomorrow. I need to get on the ball today for the update. Anyway, I am about to head over to Janie and Lauren’s for some brunch. Scones, Bacon, Mimosas…hell yeah! See ya later with an update.
Who puts a Polar Bear in Singapore? A-holes.
In case you haven’t heard, there are green polar bears in Singapore because they have mold growing inside of their hollow fur.

Well, the snow was nice and I am off to bed. I am still sick, and don’t see this going away anytime soon. I found out today that I am two hours away from being able to get my insurance. The worst part about it right now is that I have the insurance cards here at the house, but no plan behind them. Maybe in the next month or so I can get added on officially. That would be really nice considering I am sick all the time these days. Lunch was awesome today. I split a Dosa with Ben (co-worker) and had a tasty desert made from roses. That’ll do it. Hopefully Palmetto Pig is in the works for tomorrow’s lunch.
I am sitting here waiting for Ben (office) to get in touch with me about lunch. I think we are having Indian today. Ben helped Girish (co-worker) out of a bind the other day, so Girish offered to take him to lunch. I find that a very nice gesture. Out of all the places I have ever worked, the people here are by far the nicest. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean I love my job, but I certainly do love the people. I mean, don’t get me wrong. My job is good. I get a title and I get to do a lot of really awesome work. My problem with my job lies in compensation. I don’t get paid half of what most designers get paid, but that’s okay for now. I am trying to get some more time in here for resume purposes before I start to ask for more compensation. It is just frustrating that I have been sick so many times already this year and I still go in. No one ever says, “Hey, thanks for coming in even though you have a mountain of snotty tissues next to you.” Oh and by the way, “Thanks for working, we still aren’t going to offer you insurance so you can get well though.” Anyway, that is another argument for another time. I want to talk a little about the personal experiences I am grateful for at my office. Ben, for instance, has trained me in so many areas. What, you ask. Why would a senior designer need training? Well, I was hired by Justinsane Design, Inc. to design Flash (my specialty). When Justinsane Design dissolved and left for Graysail, there wasn’t much need for Flash at DSS. The web stuff we do is mostly in HTML and coded for database use…php, asp, etc… I quickly became a GUI designer without much experience in HTML. I knew the gist, but Ben was able to help me iron out the kinks and now I am having turn-around on my designs as fast as three days. Ben has also helped me out in some of my more trying financial troubles. So has Jennifer (Mynx in my links). The thing there is, Jennifer doesn’t even work for DSS. She works at a software company in the cubes adjacent to the design cubes. How awesome of a work environment is it when people are so damn friendly when they have every reason not to be. I’ve hung out with some of the programmers in five points on occasion, and recently found out that frozen Jessica is tied into my circle of friends through George. Which is awesome by the way, because it is so much more fun to go to work when you can count on seeing your friends there. However, someone should really get some heat on downstairs for Jessica. Actually I am always burning up upstairs, so we should trade. Man, there are so many people I have left out here. There is, Geniese, Justin, Leslie, Hoke, Tate, Pat, David, Jeremy, Pavan, Venu, Stephanie, Jimish, Srini…dammit, there must be more. Anyway, I think I am mostly rambling at this point. Oh yeah, shout outs to Taylor and Jessica for the “wish you well” IMs last night. You guys rawk!
