Boxing for Boobs (*)(*)

August 28, 2004

Sitting around in my new place. Taylor is down to visit. Cristina (an old friend from high school) is going with me in a few hours to 96Wave’s Boxing for Boobs event. 16 girls are going to have 1 minute (tourny style bracketed) lightning rounds for the chance to win breast augmentation surgery. I thought it would be a fun thing to do in the “why not?” sort of way. We’ll see. I hope it’s lots of fun because toorrow is that dreadful day we all know as Sunday. Sunday. You sit around consumed with the bad taste of tomorrow in your mouth. Just like Office Space, you go to the office and everyone moans about it being Monday. Waste of time, cause let me tell you. Friday aint no different. Tomorrow will be filled with filing bills and preparing myself for the week ahead. My birthday is coming and I think that is something to look forward to. It is however a reminder of where I am, relative to my goals. So far I am in good standing. I have the job I want right now…(no laughing Danielle:-)…). I have a nice place to live, and some really great friends. Thats all I guess I need. I mean there a few things I want, but need-wise, I am doing pretty well. Crap. I just had one of those moments where I realized I sat down to say something, and now I forgot what that was. ADD is me.

Jebb Rock Radio will be back in a few months I hope. I am collecting what I need to get back to it. I used to do it with a borrowed computer from work, well now I have a new job and I don’t think I’ll be borrowing their computers anytime soon…actually never. Well, I’ll be back with the booby update later.

Another one from the AP and a gross one for the books.

Dave Matthews Band Sued Over Dumped Waste

By MELANIE COFFEE

CHICAGO (AP) – The state of Illinois sued the Dave Matthews Band on Tuesday for allegedly dumping up to 800 pounds of liquid human waste from a bus into the Chicago River, dousing a tour boat filled with passengers. The lawsuit accuses the band and one of its bus drivers of violating state water pollution and public nuisance laws. It seeks $70,000 in civil penalties. “Our driver has stated that he was not involved in this incident,” band spokesman John Vlautin said in a statement. He said the band “will continue to be cooperative in this investigation.” According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 8 a bus leased by the band was heading to a downtown hotel where members were staying. As the bus crossed the Kinzie Street bridge, the driver allegedly emptied the contents of the septic tank through the bridge’s metal grating into the river below.

More than 100 people on an architecture tour were showered with foul-smelling waste. The attorney general’s office said no one was seriously injured.

“This incident may be unique, but that does not lessen the environmental or public health risks posed by the release of at least 800 pounds of liquid human waste into a busy waterway and onto a crowded tour boat,” Attorney General Lisa Madigan said in a statement.

After the incident, the boat’s captain turned the vessel around and took passengers back to the dock. Everyone received refunds, and the boat was cleaned with disinfectant.

Been a few.

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a few days. I’m sure you missed me. I went to Myrtle Beach on Friday to see The Beatholes with Beth. They blew my mind as usual and their new drummer is a good fit with some chops. Of course, Bradley loses no charm by not being in the band because he’s still just as much of a rockstar. I’ll have some photos from that show up in a few days or so. We are supposed to get cable today at the apt. provided the cable guy shows. You know what that means…internet again. Woo! There isn’t a whole lot going on otherwise. I’m about to start a rigorous practice schedule with the band. We have a show on Saturday September 11 at the Village Tavern in Mt. Pleasant with Bobby Bare, Jr. We weren’t sure we were going to do it, but then a local DJ named The Critic started promoting the show like crazy in his “Critic picks” segment. So, we decided to go ahead and bust hump on practices and do it. It’ll be awesome to play again, but it’s been so long since the last time. I’ll post more details about the show as I know more. Have a good day.

Click the link below for a free iPod by the way…Yeah it’s not like you click it and you get a free iPod, but follow the instructions and have alittle patience and you’ll find an iPod in your mail box.
