I’m typing this on the run so I hope you’ll forgive me for poor grammar and spelling. I’ll keep this as short as possible instead of rambling on about every part of the year.
Obviously some very bad stuff has happened worldwide from weather to ongoing war. You’ve already seen all of that in the year-in-review montages on tv. For me personally 2005 has been a very challenging year. My abundance of gray hair proves it. However, every year for a while has been full of struggles of one form or another.
This year I’ve battled my immense insecurities and that will continue into 2006. Work has presented challenges I never could have imagined. I’ve made some big changes financially in the continued battle to gain control over my moulah. I also learned that friends and family should always be more than a plan.
In 2006 I have no resolutions regarding weight or church-going. Instead my main concern is to have more fun. If that means I eat too much bad stuff then so be it. I want and need to laugh and smile much more than I have in 2005. If I go back into debt then it’s going to be because I bought some toys. I won’t tolerate people whining to me or trying to make me feel bad for circumstances beyond my control. I’ll be on the road with my wonderful red-headed girlfriend to Orlando for her brother’s graduation from the Awesome Institute. I’ll be playing board games, travelling and camping with Matt and Cathy. I’ll be rocking out with Garrett. I’ll be learning to play golf again with my brother. Rocking with George and throwing back a few beers. We have season passes to Carowinds for roller coaster action. When someone gives me a little hell about not finishing college I’ll make sure they know just how condescending they sound and remind them that Time magazine didn’t ask me for my diploma when they asked permission to use my photography. When an arrogant and equally ignorant co-worker acts as though Goose Creek is a dreadful place without ever having visited I’ll be sure to remind them that Kiawah and Seabrook Islands are not the pinnacle of fulfilling living. In 2006 I wish everyone love, happiness, luck, and truth.
In other news…Jessica got me a new iPod for Christmas. I’ve been adding all my CDs to it as well as some other mp3s and some videos. She also got me a home dock for the TV and one for the new car. No more cds to fiddle with on the drive from suburbia to pristine beaches. No more deciding what to listen to on the home stereo. I just press play. Who knew it was so handy and useful? And to think I thought you had to have hipster sideswept hair and live in a big city to be worthy of owning an iPod. It turns out though that you can play Confederate Railroad on an iPod just as easily as you can Bright Eyes or Coheed and Cambria.
Be safe everyone. There will be some morons drinking and driving tonight. Happy New Year!
