Zoom-Zoom

ZoomZoom-800-1, originally uploaded by Jebb Graff.

Speaking of zooms…i got a new lens recently. I really like prime lenses, but after shooting with the soon-to-be Bentons downtown in cramped quarters, I decided that my 50mm f1.8 wasn’t going to always be my best choice. I recently added a 12-24mm f4 to the camera bag. Hell, I added a new camera bag to the…bag? Words aren’t my thing appearently.

Anyway, I love this new lens and am having to remind myself, not to get stuck in it. I also love my 50mm 1.8. The one thing I don’t like about it, is that it’s not very fast in comparison to the 50mm, and the depth of field is too deep f4. So, I’ll be using a little Photoshop here and there to fix that.

This photo was shot in my driveway, and I was only about 5-6 feet from the front bumper. Noice bro!

Next on the list? A nice long zoom. I’m thinking maybe the 70-200mm f2.8 VR. I need to save up for a while for that one though. Or maybe I could just book another wedding or two. Feel free to send your friends and such to me for their photo needs. ;)

Ring me up.

So I took on the ring flash, do it yourself project. I am pretty pleased, but think I will make a new one that is a little cleaner now that I know what the heck I’m doing.

I got the idea for Sterilite bowls from this fellow. Thanks for that.

Anyway, this is the first test.

I’m a big dork, but I don’t care.

Well, Jessica and I didn’t make it to the Hurt Reynolds show afterall. We got on the interstate at 7:30. At 7:45 we were at mile marker 184. At 10:00 we exited at exit number 177. Yep, 2 hours and 15 minutes to go 6 miles, so we headed back home at that exit. There had been a horrible accident that took the lives of one civilian driver, one police officer and one police dog on the interstate. No speeding involved, just an unknown cross of the median at at least 70 miles per hour. The accident had happened around 5:30 and the interstate was still closed. It’s very sad to think about the families of those people that died. We read today that the police officer had been shot in 2003. I can’t help but think that it makes it worse for the family. You escape death after being shot and then in a fluke accident you are killed.

Sad and scary if you ask me.

Babies you say?

I didn’t plan it, but it appears that baby and kid portraits may become a major part of my shooting routine. That’s certainly fine with me. I love hanging out with these little folks. They’re a lot of fun and I don’t have to do any re-touching for blemishes. ;)

It would appear that the magical word-of-mouth chain is starting and who am I to object?

Will you be there?!

Tonight, my friends is the long awaited one night reunion of one of Columbia’s the world’s greatest rock bands at The New Brookland Tavern in Columbia, South Carolina. Jessica and I will leave for Columbia after work so that will put us there around 9PM. I hope we’re in time. Also playing will be The Paper Champions. Sadly I have not had the chance to see them, but I hear they are equally fantastic.

Though I’m not going to let my camera-toting take over at the show, I do plan on snapping a few shots. Club shots are not my specialty, so we’ll see how that turns out on Monday.

Don’t forget to set your clocks and freak out like the world will end if your Outlook calendar is a bit off, and then ask ourself why you aren’t using Google Calendars yet. Simmah don nah people, it’s an hour.
