The What Light?

February 27, 2008

The Hot Light.

The age old question of “is the Hot Light on?” has been answered by my pirateering friends at GraySail LLC.

What is the Hot Light?
It’s a neon beauty that makes appearances at all the Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops. If the neon is humming then there are hot, fresh, doughy treasures rolling off the assembly line inside. I’m not sure if it is still the policy, but you used to be able to get a free one when the Hot Light was lit.

A lot of people prefer Krispy Kreme before the glaze actually becomes crispy. I actually like them better after they’ve come up to room temperature and the glaze is crispy, but I still have no problem chowing on a deliciously warm doughnut.

No more hoping to spot it when driving by. No Sir. Just rev up your mouse, Wacom or otherwise and ask the intert00bz:

Is the Hot Light On?

This blog has been brought to you by my lunch break and overeating.

Break’s over…back to work.

Weddin’ Photos

February 26, 2008

Jessica and I are off to meet our wedding photographer and discuss some plans etc. We don’t have a lot of plans in stone yet, so I hope we aren’t too frustrating for her. A big part of our plans will come after this meeting. I wanted to make a point to plan some of our wedding decor and location around the photography. Our photographer is mainly a natural light shooter, so there are lots of implications with that in mind regarding our lighting and time of day etc. I’m pretty excited about it to be honest. Talk to you soon.

Sniffing the Trail to Heaven

February 21, 2008

“Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry away with them so many years of our own lives.”

- John Galsworthy

T-Bone, one of our family Bassett Hounds passed away last night during the lunar eclipse. Last year he was diagnosed with a painful medical condition called megacolon. He wasn’t expected to make it past the end of that week. However, with lots of pumpkin sandwiches he pulled through and made it almost a full year from his diagnosis.

Sadly, he went back down hill last night. My mom heard our other Bassett Hound, Pasquale, let out a grave howl. These Bassetts aren’t usually howlers as much as they are puffers and barkers. My mom knew something wasn’t right. She checked on them and T-Bone was back in poor condition. My mom and step-dad stayed with him last night until he was resting and then they headed in for the night.

This morning when it was time to let them out into the yard from their overnight pen, Mom discovered poor T-Bone outside of his dog house. Pasquale seemed to have said goodbye with his howl the night before as he barely made notice of T-Bone’s body. Mom said that T-Bone’s typical pancake sized lip was stuck on one of his teeth, leaving the world with a smile.

We’ll miss you Bone.

I <3 Cake!

February 19, 2008

As many of you know, my fiancee is quite the cake and goodies maker. For Valentine’s Day she made us this beautiful cake. We’ve yet to cut it because it’s so perty. She made it yesterday so it’s a little late for Valentine’s day officially, but like Andre said, “…every day’s the fourteenth.”

Wedding Plans – Take 1

February 19, 2008

In an earlier “Posts Forthcoming” I mentioned that I’d be posting some wedding plans. Jill asked me if it was my wedding. But of course it’s for my wedding. Well, mine and Jessica’s to be exact.

We were engaged last October while on a trip to Tennessee to see Superdrag and just to hang in Gatlinburg.

We’re planning for a very small, intimate wedding to be held in my mom and step-dad’s back yard this November. As far as real planning goes, we’ve barely begun. We have a photographer and a lot of ideas though. So we’re at least off to a good start.

We want to go very low budget on the wedding. We don’t want to start our marriage off up to our dreams in debt nor do we want to put a huge strain on any of our family. I’m sure there will be a little charge here and there, but we aren’t looking at an epically proportioned staging. Just a very nice, warm wedding.

There are some other details in the works, but there’s a little time between now and November, so I’ll save those for future posts.
