Busy Bees

May 31, 2008

The past couple of weeks have proven to be crazy busy. Weddings, commercial sessions, Spoleto Parties, 9-5er, family events (Happy 25th Mom & Gary), Memorial Day, lots and lots.

And it continues. Jessica and I are about to head down to Bluffton, SC for a very large wedding (500 guests!). On the way we’re stopping off in Walterboro to get our Dyson fixed. They have to be serviced by certified Dyson technicians and the only one around is in Walterboro. :

Kids In The Hall

May 25, 2008

Jessica and I just got home from seeing The Kids In The Hall at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. I’m too tired to give an in depth review or anything, but I will say that it was really good. Those guys are funny. Most of the really funny stuff is a little inappropriate for this blog, but they did close the show with a camera on stage pointing back at the audience and Mark McKinney squished our heads.

The great strides walk was yesterday and went off without a hitch. Thanks again to everyone that donated. Our team beat our goal by a long shot because of all of your help! The fundraising goal for the Charleston chapter for the year is about $41,000 and this walk gathered about $36,000, so we’re almost there for the year goal! Here are some pics from the walk and the full slideshow is here.

I made some t-shirts for our team…I thought my nephew would get a kick out of the “gangsta” look.

Any time “In the Mood” plays no matter where, my mom and stepdad cut the rug.

The walk begins…

I’m always looking for details that might look good on my wall. I love the light play on the palm fronds.

Blue sky + kids + firehoses = Always a good time!

Our team…a good looking bunch methinks.

Love – 2

May 11, 2008

A while back I started doing some digital drawing and started a “Love” series. I know I know…lame and freshman art project, but hey I like it. Anyway, this is the second piece in the Love collection. I’ll put the first one up later as it is in an old Photoshop format that I am having problems converting.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers of the world.

Literally speaking that is.

Below is a shot that I took at a wedding last weekend. The sky was pretty overcast with that familiar humid-haze-white. I know overcast and white don’t necessarily make sense together, but that’s the way the sky comes out when you are exposing for a pelican flying over. If you are letting enough light into the camera to make dark brown feathers brown instead of black, then the sky behind that pelican is bound to whiten up or “blow out” as we photo nerds tend to say.

So the first shot represents the original and the second shot represents a little Photoshop added to the mix. I think it came out pretty well. I combined the pelican shot with one of some clouds I took last year. I made the clouds very subtle as not to make otherwise impossible lighting in the photo. These clouds were breathtaking and unbelievably large hovering over our house like a fleet of Zeppelins. Those cloud pics are below too.
