Brenda Diggs It

July 28, 2009

You may remember a post a little while back about a headshot I took for my friend Brenda. Well, she’s back at it with a new piece about Facebook & other social network devils. Check it out here on the Post & Courier’s website. Same shot, different story.

The better I become at photography, the more and more boring post-processing becomes. I used to spend a good bit of time in Photoshop adjusting levels, adding floof, and post processing bells and whistles etc. Now I find myself moving a slider a little here and there to increase contrast since Raw files are so flat out of the camera, but that’s about it. This should be great news, but it honestly starts to make me feel a little guilty. Like I’m not spending enough time on each photo or something. I need to get over that, because accurate exposures the first time out of the camera are nothing to feel guilty about.

On the other hand. If I’m working on a specific type of image I’ll still process like crazy to get it the way I want it if it’s not possible with the current conditions at the time of shooting.

Now to shower and head to the studio. I have weddings and sessions to edit as well as another album to layout for Miss Leigh Webber, Charleston wedding photographer extraordinaire.

This post deserves more words, but I have to be packing up and getting on the road, so you can have a slideshow instead. My nephew Gaige made all stars, so I got to shoot him playing a tourny while I was in town.

It’s a hefty one so give it a sec to load. You can view it as a stand alone here.

I had the pleasure of photographing a very nice family visiting from Georgia recently out at Alhambra Hall in Mt. Pleasant. Of course it rained like crazy for about an hour before we were scheduled to shoot, but cleared just in time for the photos. Everyone was so nice and fun even for the gigantic group photos in the mosquitoes. Thanks North family!

The slide show is below.

4th of July – 2009

July 6, 2009

I went up to Columbia this year to hang out with George & Lauren for the weekend of the 4th. I didn’t go photo crazy because I was on a two day vacay, but I did manage to snap a few for fun.

George is saving his nephew from the tyranny of passing cars, and smokey storm drains in the first one. The others are pretty easy to figure out. ;)

You know…because everyone needs a swirly sparkler shot right?
