Bank Heist

Posted on September 17, 2008

Whoa! My stepdad (Gary) was at the South Carolina Federal Credit Union in Goose Creek yesterday when two guys came rushing in. Gary said one of them was waving what looked like a chrome .45 around shouting to get down & that they didn’t want to hurt anyone while the other guy jumped the counter to get the cash. They left leaving everyone unharmed. Gary was only about 10 or 12 feet away from the guy waving the gun. I may be selfish for saying it but I’m really glad Gary didn’t try to take the guy down or anything. People who are crazy enough to think it’s easy to get away with robbing a bank are crazy enough to pull a trigger. Gary is known for having quick reflexes under intense and bad situations, and I’m really glad he didn’t do anything and get hurt. He’s in the video below wearing the dark blue mechanic uniform walking with the police officer.

If the video isn’t showing up for you, you can find it here on the local news channel WCIV website.

Holy Last Year!

Posted on August 27, 2008

So last year I posted here about the trip that Jessica and I took to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. In usual Jebb Graff form, I mentioned how I would post photos soon. Well, I just recently realized I never got around to posting any. Here are some from the trip. I did have around 150, but then thought better of it and decided to post a “handful” of faves. Maybe I’ll make a slideshow with the rest. So here they are with captions and all…ooooooo, ahhhh!

Did I mention that George & Lauren drove up too? They didn’t stay the whole tim, but just long enough for George to show off his hovering skills.

Jessica and I take a self pic on the chair lift.

Insert cliched postcard photo here.

The clouds were doing some funky business on the neighboring mountains and I thought it was photo worthy.

The majority of the week we were there was spent looking at the bears at Ober Gatlinburg. We were also fortunate enough to see some bears in the wild. That was pretty much the coolest.

Dang ole flaming fountain man.

The trees in the park were so tall. It was pretty rainy and muggy for October, but the hike was really nice and quite pretty.

Insert cliche waterfall photo here.

Yup…we like bears alright…we’ll gladly watch you sleep if you happen to be one.

Slope Sans Snow -or- Green Grass Gulch

We climbed in that little blender and took a flight around the mountains. Pretty much the coolest.

Again with the cool. I think helicopters have to be the best machines ever built. My friend Ben agrees and says he will name his child “Laser Helicopter”.

Jessica in her flight mode. She turns into a silhouette in every aircraft. It’s a gift…don’t judge.

Here we are taking another self-shot on a chair lift. Little did she know I had a diamond or two in my pocket.

Following the diamond discovery and proposal it was time or another self pic at a bar where we celebrated our engagement with a cup of coffee.

We got up way too early to go up the parkway to watch the sunrise. While it was pitch black I played with the moon, my tripod and a pen light. It was pretty damn cold out.

Sun is finally starting to light up Gatlinburg with a gorgeous cobalt ceiling.

Yay for tripods and remotes.

Yay for sunrise and Jessicas after pancakes. Yeah…we went up so early for the sunrise that we ended up leaving to go get breakfast and then coming back. It turns out that sunrise in Charleston is a different time than sunrise in the mountains several states away. I’m not always the brightest…sue me.

That’ll do for now.

Introducing Crissy

Posted on July 1, 2008

This is my mom and stepdad’s new dog.  She’s an Irish/Glen Terrier mix and she’s as sweet as ever.  She looks like a puppet and is very well behaved.  I got to meet her earlier this evening, and wanted to post at least one of these photos while my memory cards are downloading from the weddings I photographed this past weekend.  Downloading from memory cards means more photos for you to see in the near future.  In the meantime enjoy this one.

As for her name…her rescuers named her that, and my parent’s nor I thought it would be very nice to her to change her name that she has been used to for the past two years.

Goodnight.

Camping and Dirtbikes

Posted on June 24, 2008

This past Friday I took the day off to go meet my brother and nephew in Columbia to camp out and spend the day riding dirtbikes at Carolina Adventure World. That place was incredible to say the least. Trails were from beginner to expert. We accidentally went on an expert trail once and it wasn’t too bad. In fact some of the intermediate trails were more difficult. I didn’t get a lot of photos because I was busy riding or crashing. Yeah, we all took our share of spills and I feel like I was in a three day brawl. My brother took the hardest hit with a jump that didn’t go so well on the enduro track. He’s fine though. I wish I had taken one of my old film cameras so I could have gotten some more shots from the trails as it was too risky to take my digital gear down there considering the dust, mud, trees, and tendency for my face to meet the ground in less than 2 seconds. Oh well…next time I’ll bring the K1000 (The “tank” of SLRs).

So here are a few snapshots.

Campsite at Sesquicentennial State Park

Tasty dinner. Garrett dropped a couple of those in the coals…extra crispy.

Garrett gets hydrated before the dirtbiking commences.

My bike for the day. XR250

Look how dirty my shirt is. This was after about two hours of riding.

We were so hot and tired and this trailer kept taunting me with the ideas of frozen treats.

Great Strides Walk - Results

Posted on May 18, 2008

The great strides walk was yesterday and went off without a hitch. Thanks again to everyone that donated. Our team beat our goal by a long shot because of all of your help! The fundraising goal for the Charleston chapter for the year is about $41,000 and this walk gathered about $36,000, so we’re almost there for the year goal! Here are some pics from the walk and the full slideshow is here.

I made some t-shirts for our team…I thought my nephew would get a kick out of the “gangsta” look.

Any time “In the Mood” plays no matter where, my mom and stepdad cut the rug.

The walk begins…

I’m always looking for details that might look good on my wall. I love the light play on the palm fronds.

Blue sky + kids + firehoses = Always a good time!

Our team…a good looking bunch methinks.
