Jebb Blogging Lately = FAIL
Posted on July 31, 2008
Yeah…I’ve been pretty slow with updates lately. That usually means one of two things. Either I’m going through one of those blogging dry spells everyone gets or I’m incredibly busy. This time has been the latter.
Over the past several months I have been busier than I have ever been before. I like it for the most part, but I am feeling the need for a real vacation. It will have to wait though until my honeymoon in November. I’ll make it. I’ve been photographing a lot of different things, working like mad at my 9-5er, studying business practices, culling some more gear and as of late, trying to figure out how I want to use my iPhone with my emails and calendars and stuff.
I’m a Google fan. I’ve been using GMail since Mynx first sent me an invitation several years ago. I love their calendar, reader, chat, search (of course) you name it. The other day I decided to try and make use of Google Apps with my jebbgraff.com domain name. So here I am all set up with that…my old gmail address is forwarded to my new jebbgraff.com mail account that’s using the gmail interface blah blah blah… Then it happens. I go to the new Apple store on King Street and purchase a new iPhone 3G. I’m sold on the concept of MobileMe. Flawless syncing of my calendar, contacts & mail sounds great. Except that there is no way in hell I’m changing my email address for it. So after much debate I decided that I would stick with Google Apps and only sync my contacts and calendar to the MobileMe cloud. Today has been day 1 and so far so good. It’s great that the iPhone works so well with Gmail through IMAP…so does my MacMail. The only problem so far is that MacMail doesn’t “know” when I’ve opened a message on my iPhone. No big deal, but full on sync like MobileMe would have been nice. Soon enough I’m sure there will be an easy cure to that. Hell there probably is a cure now, but I’m just a few rungs below total geek to know what to do. If you’re a true geek and want to let me know how to set it all up please feel free, just check your “company computer guy” ego at the door please.
Photos soon.

Some Random Thoughts
Posted on July 7, 2008
• It’s bumming me out that my XBox 360 is sparadically giving me the “red ring of death“.
• Especially since I recently got the racing wheel and Forza 2.
• I’m missing playing music with the doodz. The doodz = The Ivy League & Love Apple
• Wish my brother hadn’t broken his leg…it sucks to have a broken leg.
• Bumper stickers that say “Frodo lost the ring, Bush has it” are more annoying than anything else. Bush hater or not.
• Little Caeser’s pizza is really good and only $5 for a pie.
• Jay is the Fonz for bringing some by the house for pizza and Wii
• I like Weezer’s new album…Also the new Coldplay.
• It’s late and I need to go to work fairly early tomorrow.
• I’ve got some updates on the way to my portfolio and blog in general.
• I’ve got no time for Texas Hold’em on Facebook, though I wish I did.
• Bumper stickers that read “Don’t believe everything you think” would normally be a valuable tidbit to ponder while waiting for the light to change at North Rhett and Remount, but lose their impact for me when on the same car with the sticker about Frodo having lost the ring and Bush having it.
• Bedtime is great, so why do I always seem to be avoiding it?
• Goodnight.

Gas
Posted on June 6, 2008
It was inevitable. Everyone that blogs has to mention gas, or gas prices, or a gas “crisis”. I don’t care to go political on this blog. There are so many things I can grumble about and point to as being horrible about this country, but I choose not to because I am still 100% thankful to live in the United States of America. Not in the “better than thou” way, but in the thankful for what I have way. Patriotism aside…
I decided to start trying to ride my motorcycle to work more often to save on fuel costs and emissions. I get something like 50 miles per gallon. I haven’t actually done the math yet, but will on the next fill-up. There is no gas gauge on my bike. I just know that I need to buy gas every 100 miles. I could go farther, but the idea of sputtering out of gas is not one I relish. My house is exactly 48 miles from my preferred parking spot, so that’s a fill-up per day when biking it to the office.
The money saved is great, but there are always drawbacks. One being the obvious drawback of southern summer weather. Rainy afternoons and blistering days. Lately, I’ve avoided biking to work because of the thunderstorm forecast. However, every day when I leave it doesn’t end up raining, so today I decided to fugeddaboutit and rode the bike. Now I have successfully allowed the Sun’s UV rays to rain hell’s fury on my white Scots-Irish-American arms. Result = more freckles than a redhead convention and a lovely short-sleeved shirt farmer’s tan (read burn).
Skin cancer as a fair trade for savings at the pump maybe?
mebbeh.

Kids In The Hall
Posted on May 25, 2008
Jessica and I just got home from seeing The Kids In The Hall at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. I’m too tired to give an in depth review or anything, but I will say that it was really good. Those guys are funny. Most of the really funny stuff is a little inappropriate for this blog, but they did close the show with a camera on stage pointing back at the audience and Mark McKinney squished our heads.

Making Great Strides
Posted on April 30, 2008
Thanks to everyone who has donated so far towards the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides walk I’ll be participating in.
Because of you guys I have now surpassed my personal fund raising goal, but my team still has a little way to go overall.
Here are my teammates that still need some help reaching their goals.
If you haven’t donated already and you’d like to, please do so at one of those links above. We could use the help!
If you have donated, thanks so much. It means more than you can imagine to have your support.
